ROY HODGSON HAS TO GO...
You can see my earlier post about Rafa Benitez and see how disappointed i was with his attitude. well, now he is gone...and he is showing his talent at inter milan, no wonder they are 4th in the serie A. But, what is sad is, that with his departure...came Roy Hodgson who fails to admit that draws are not good results. I have seen no fighting attitude in the team this season. Poor form of torres has not helped either. But the players have disappointed. the manager has to take the blame. we needed some one with a winning mentality like jose mourinho..the league itself is very tight this season..2 wins in a row and we could be peeking at top four.
MINIMUM EXPECTED
Top four finish. but there is arsenal, chelsea, united, man city, spurs..and even Newcastle are threatening this season. we will have to play out of our skins.
TOOLS NEEDED
another striker
another playmaker/creative midfielder to support Stevie G, although raul meirelles is looking good.
Need fabio aurelio playing again.
In form Torres/ Gerrard/ Johnson...
New manager at the cost of further instability at the club..but can't take anymore of the draw is a good result stuff...
Hopefully LFC can still finish in the top four?
AMEN....

NADAL WINS SECOND WIMBLEDON..
so rafa wins his second Wimbledon. great effort. you can't take credit away from him at all. he played better later in the tournament when it really mattered. his mental toughness and fighting attitude as i mentioned earlier clearly stood out. now, this win is a sign for greater things to come from him. Now, he has 8 grand slams to his name and he is only 24! his game might not be suited to hard courts but he has certainly played extremely well on grass for the past 4 years. with age on his side, he could go on to win many more slams. now the question is the hard courts of US. Can rafa win the US open for the first time? well too early to say..if Del Potro is fit and playing like last year, he will be my pick to win it but again, it is too early to say. Now is the moment to congratulate a great champion..

YouTube - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Theme 1966
YouTube - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Theme 1966 listen to this epic theme music from a classic. recently my colleague had pointed out the similarity in appearance of clint eastwood to one of our esteemed senior faculty at apollo delhi. that aside, this is an epic theme, and it has been copied in many bollywood movies as background score and shamelessly by anu malik in one of his ( many copied) songs. Enjoy the music.
Germany Derail Argentina
end of the dream for maradona. easy games against weaker sides led him to believe that his side was invincible. but they were always weak defensively. but today they attacked miserably. very slow movement, no vision, hesitation at the D, this all comes not from lack of talent, but from lack of confidence, they did not show any character. Plus Higuain really disappointed. Messi and Tevez were atleast trying to make space. Di maria should have shot better. germany were too fast and too good for them. germans look in ominous form. But may be Spain ( my only remaining team) can stop them. But being a sportsman at heart, i would welcome the best side to win. and it is the way you play that counts. the mindset. a positive mindset enhances the performance many times. training and skills are integral to any sport but mental toughness and right attitude is the winning edge. Biggest example that i can think of his Sir Alex Ferguson and what he has done with Manchester United. it is spain versus paraguay next. TIME FOR TORRES?

RAFAEL NADAL- ALL TIME GREAT..
Consider this, he is a man who is only 24 years old. He has played in 6 french open's and he has lost only a single match at roland garros. He has 7 grand slams to his name. He is the only man apart from Bjorn Borg to have won 5 French Open titles. I think that is enough of an introduction and reasons to make him not only the greatest clay court player of all time but also one of the greatest players to have played the game. Add to that a winning record against a certain "ROGER FEDERER". i salute him for winning again at roland garros. after the disappointment of last year, he has fought really hard for this. no win for rafa comes easy. his powers of concentration are amazing. his focus is pinpoint. just look at his game..he never makes any unforced errors ( minimal, if any). and having seen his battles with federer, i think he is a greater fighter than him. i think he tries even harder. should he keep himself fit, i think he will go on to win many more slams. at least he will definitely break Borg's record of 6 roland garros titles. even though soderling did not play at his best in the final, i guess you can't expect him to play always at the level he played against Federer. heavy conditions had definitely helped Soderling defeat Federer. but anyhow. kudos to rafa..this is his moment..wishing him luck for future..it will be a different ball game at wimbledon..and i almost forgot, rafa is world no. 1 again. so, next is the grass court season ( albeit short) where roger will be gunning for a 7th wimbledon title..i do feel that winbledon will be overshadowed by the greatest sporting event of the millenium..fifa world cup 2010.

liverpool- where do we go from here?
well, all supporters are deeply grieved about last season. But in which direction are we going? same old coach, who buys a handicapped player to replace a vital playmaker like Alonso..whose tactics are beyond most..and who keeps reminding us that he needs more money to bring in new players. He is not going to get a huge amount of money. On top of that, Gerrard and Torres might leave.I am worried. Atleast we could get a descent coach whose tactic is understandable, logical and positive. i think we need mourinho kind of coach. but he is going to madrid. so, if Rafa stays..we are doomed. It is sad, but..what can we do?
